For your consideration is this vintage nut chopper. The tin mechanism is embossed and reads "PAT. NO. / 2,001,075." This mechanism was invented by Carl A Sundstrand and granted patent number US2001075A in May of 1935. According to a 1940 publication on Internet Archive, Carl A Sundstrand was the president of Metwood Company in Rockford, Illinois, a company that produced household articles. The grinding device screws onto a Hazel Atlas Baby Food style jar. Though the jar has inclusions and looks to be old, seller is uncertain if it is the original jar sold with the grinder. It does, however, fit the threaded grinder apparatus. The grinder attachment measures 4 inches long (handle included in measures) x 2.5 inches wide (Outer Diameter of threaded piece) x 2.9 inches tall. The clear Hazel Atlas jar measures 2.6 inches in diameter x 2.8 inches tall. The entire apparatus is 5.5 inches high and weighs 8.3 ounces. With the patented design and vintage appeal, this unique kitchen gadget is a charming addition to any collection or modern kitchen.
Condition: The top of the clear jar does have a few chips (shown in photos), but cannot be seen when grinding device is screwed on. The grinder has a lovely patina'd finish. Seller has removed much of the nut oil residue which previously covered the grinder, but some small bits still remain. Items have been soaked in degreaser and steam cleaned prior to photographing and listing.
