This beautiful piece is made of three strands & large hand carved droplets in the same color. Size: 20" long & 3" wide. Ugo Correani is one of fashion jewelry's best-kept secrets. For 2 decades, starting in 1973, the Rome-born designer worked behind scenes in his humble Milan atelier for some of the industry's biggest names, Chanel, Versace, Valentino & Christian Lacroix. Correani designed for Karl Lagerfeld's very first haute couture collection at Chanel in 1983 & collaborated with Lagerfeld at Chloé. His most fruitful collaboration was Gianni Versace, who he met in 1970s when Versace was a mere guppy in fashion fishpond. The Versace-Correani relationship produced an explosive alchemy, both on the stage at Milan's La Scala theater (where the duo produced costumes & jewelry for several plays, including Evita, André Malraux & Salomé in the 1980s as well as on Milan's catwalks. Correani interpreted Versace's fearless style into refined, witty & meticulously produced costume jewelry. Correani died he was not known beyond the circles of fashion insiders & his tight-knit collaborators. He had no heirs, his archive disappeared, & his legacy & story were largely lost.
