VINTAGE CHRISTIAN DIOR Taffeta Dress
EXCELLENT CONDITION
This stunning piece of art was sold at Gidding-Jenny.
Gidding-Jenny was an exclusive women's clothier that had operated at that location for 88 years. It sold high-grade apparel — or “correct dress for women," as stated in an early ad - Paquin gowns from Paris, mink coats, pink suits and Odalisque perfume.
J.M. Gidding & Co. had opened its first store in Duluth, Minnesota, in 1904, followed by Cincinnati and New York's Fifth Avenue, according to the 1922 edition of "American Cloak and Suit Review."
The Cincinnati store, at 10 and 12 W. Fourth St., opened for business on Oct. 8, 1907.
Giddings Dior dresses refer to the iconic, often extravagant, couture creations from the House of Dior, famous for timeless elegance, revolutionary "New Look" silhouettes, and artistic designs
(like the "Venus" or "Juno" gowns) that blend historical inspiration with modern luxury, found in museum collections (Met, D Young), high-end retail (Dior.com),
