An ascending United States Air Force plane embellishes this silver tone 1-1/2 inch long tie bar. One wing is stamped "USAF" and the other has the USAF emblem. Pre-owned, the tie bar shows age discoloration; see close-up photo.
The Boeing B-52 has been in service with the USAF since 1955. As of June 2019, there are 76 aircraft in inventory; 58 operated by active forces (2nd Bomb Wing and 5th Bomb Wing), 18 by reserve forces (307th Bomb Wing), and about 12 in long-term storage at the Davis-Monthan AFB Boneyard. Its first flight was on April 15, 1952. With a wingspan of 185 feet, it top speed is 650 miles-per-hour with a range of 8,800 miles.
