The Voice of Democracy is an audio-essay scholarship competition for high school students sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). Established in 1947, the program encourages students to express their perspectives on democratic and patriotic themes through recorded essays. Each year, over 25,000 students compete for over $2 million in scholarships and incentives. The national first-place winner receives a $35,000 scholarship.
