Although the upper is still low-slung and laceless, it adds several alternate features. These tweaks include a Velcro strap that reaches across the top of the foot for lockdown and a printed Jazz Stripe on both the lateral and medial sides that fades into the toebox and collar. The midsole's rubber then rises up onto the upper's lower half for durability and protection against a multitude of tricks. However, what's on the inside and bottom may very well be the most interesting pieces. The outsole features Vans's new Waffle Control technology, a system that strips back the midsole so the wearer's foot is separated from the board by fewer parts.
