This Vintage Federal Uranium Georgian Lovebirds Green Depression Glass Plate is a charming piece of antique American glassware from the early 20th century. The "Georgian" pattern was produced by the Federal Glass Company starting in 1931 until 1942. The design features pairs of birds alternating with baskets, which led to the "Lovebirds" nickname.
The plate measures approximately 9-1/2" in diameter and the cup measures approximately 4-1/2" including handle. here is no specific damage to either piece however there are silverware marks on the plate and the cup's base rim feels a bit rough to the touch. Please review all photos as they are part of the description.
The glow is a result of the uranium oxide diuranate added to the glass mix before melting. Uranium glass contains a small amount of uranium oxide, which causes it to fluoresce a bright green color under ultraviolet (UV) light. Uranium glass is generally considered safe to handle and collect.
