Two VTG/Antique Asian Lacquer Ware Bowls - Goldfish & Grapes Design in Gold

Two Vintage or Antique Asian Red Lacquer Ware Bowls with Goldfish & Grapes Design in Gold These lacquer ware bowls have a beautiful, unique gold hand-painted design of a pair of goldfish on one of them, and a bunch of grapes on vines on the other one. The gold painting on the red background brings a feeling of elegance not often found in lacquer ware bowls. Goldfish serve as a symbol of wealth, fortune, and good luck, while grapes serve as a symbol of abundance, in Asian art and culture. These bowls would not only be beautiful to display, but could bring you good luck and prosperity as well! :) I'm not sure whether these were made in China or Japan, but aesthetically they seem more Japanese to me. I'm not sure of the age but they seem very old to me. Condition varies with each bowl: 1) The grapes design bowl is in very good used condition. There are no cracks in the lacquer, but there are scuffs around the outer side of the bowl, and a small amount of lacquer loss at the very bottom rim of the bowl. 2) The goldfish design bowl is in fair condition. There are a couple of cracks in the lacquer above the big fish. There are also scuffs around the outer side of the bowl. Dimensions: Each bowl is approximately 2 inches high and 4.75 inches wide.
