Tupperware SmartSteamer (also known as the 101 MicroGourmet). Unlike standard microwave-safe plastic that lets waves through to the food, this system features a shielded base and cover that block microwaves, directing them instead to a water tray to create true steam. Components of the System The full set typically includes four pieces: Water Tray: The bottom-most bowl where you add water. Steamer Base: The main perforated bowl that sits on the water tray. Colander Tray: A shallower tray for steaming delicate items like fish or stacking a second layer. Cover: The lid that seals in steam.How to Use It Add Water: Pour exactly 1¾ cups (400 mL) of cold water into the bottom water tray. Do not use the steamer without water. Assemble: Place the Steamer Base on top of the water tray. Add your food (e.g., vegetables, poultry, or fish) into the base. Optional Second Tier: If you are cooking a second item, place the Colander Tray on top of the base and add food there. Cover & Cook: Place the lid on top. Microwave on High (max 1,200 watts) for no more than 25 minutes. Stand Time: Always let the unit sit for 5 minutes after cooking to allow the steaming process to finish.
