Trochus Shell Buttons 11 mm Diameter

44 Trochus Shell Buttons, approximately 11 mm diameter, & 1 mm thick. Never used; listed as NWT because I bought a bag of 48, & I used 4. They are in the original bag, marked "48/bag", but now there are 44. Trochus shell buttons are used on high quality, luxury articles of clothing, like men's dress shirts. They are made from the nacre of the shell of the Trochus sea snail. They are sought after for their unique, creamy, off-white, luxurious sheen. Compared to regular mother of pearl buttons, they are a softer, color that works well with most fabric colors. Trochus shell buttons usually have red to brown markings on one side of the button, and it's usually the side that goes against the material. However, if the markings complement the material, and if you are wanting less of an iridescent sheen, you can sew them on with the marked side up! The last 2 pictures give a comparison of a trochus shell button to a typical mother of pearl button. The trochus is on the right, MOP is on the left. The last picture is on a white piece of paper, to clearly show how white the MOP button is verses the off white of the trochus button. If you wish to purchase LESS than 44 buttons, message me! However, please note that natural shell buttons vary somewhat from one another in thickness and in other subtle ways, like the waviness of the surface, or the way they reflect light. So sometimes it's good to have more than you need, so you can use the ones that go together best.
