I was bitten by a copperhead snake! It was very frightening and it really hurt. My muzzle became very swollen and tender to the touch. I had to go to the emergency vet and had blood drawn …. Ouch! My bloodwork showed I didn’t need an anti-venom treatment. That is a good thing. The anti-venom injection can cost as much as $1000 per vial. Plus I would have had to stay hospitalized for at least 12 hours and have an IV inserted. Thank goodness I am a healthy three year old big boy, 99 pounds of pure muscle and great genes. I am doing just fine now and my mom is checking for any more snakes hiding in my yard. Apparently this is the peak season for copperheads. That is very scary.
