This double link coin bracelet is wonderfully unique, and features a small silver ball charm on one end. The face of lavish King Farouk of Egypt is depicted on these rare Egyptian silver coins, hexagonal shaped, circa 1944, when hexagonal silver coins worth 2 piastres were issued.
The bracelet measures 7.75 inches length.
Bracelet width is 21mm without ball charm. Charm drop length is 26mm.
Spring ring closure.
King Farouk ruled Egypt from 1936 to 1952, was known for his robust and over the top playboy lifestyle, having only reached the age of 16 when he ascended to power. He dictated that only his entourage may have cars colored red, so as to be easily identified by all, and not to be stopped by the police when he raced through the streets of Egypt. He was known for his vast collection of land, jewels, and pornography, including an array of thousands of adult-themed neckties. But the most interesting this about “the theif of Cairo”, as he later became known, are the scandalous alleged heists he managed to pulled off. Amoung these stints are a stolen a watch from Winston Churchill, and nabbing of a ceremonial sword from the grave of a dead Iranian Shah.
