This set is designed for tasseography, the art of fortune-telling by interpreting patterns left by tea leaves in a cup. The saucer and the inside of the cup are adorned with various astrological symbols, zodiac signs, and other symbols used in tea leaf reading. The Royal Kendal version is a fine bone china reproduction made in Staffordshire, England, inspired by earlier 20th-century tasseography cups.
