Considered one of his more famous artworks -- ‘The Leftovers of a Lunch, also called the Silver Goblet’ depicts a simple still life scene with a silver goblet as the main subject. It is described as 'a carefully balanced composition with a soft diffusion of light and granular impasto'.

The original Rococo style painting was done in 1768 by Chardin — born November 2, 1699 - died December 6, 1779. He is considered a master of still life, and is also noted for his genre paintings which depict kitchen maids, children, and domestic activities. The original painting of 'The Silver Goblet’ currently hangs in the Musée du Louvre in Paris.
