🍹 Plot Summary: Set in the late 1950s, the film follows Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp), an American journalist who moves to San Juan, Puerto Rico to write for a struggling local newspaper. Disillusioned by the corruption, greed, and decaying American values around him, Kemp drifts through a world of rum-soaked nights, shady business deals, and moral compromise. He gets caught up with a slick land developer named Sanderson (Aaron Eckhart), who wants Kemp to help push a shady real estate scheme. Meanwhile, Kemp falls for Sanderson’s glamorous but troubled fiancée, Chenault (Amber Heard), which further complicates things.
