A vintage & classic hardcover children's book written & illustrated by beloved author, Beatrix Potter, published by Frederick Warne & Co. First published in 1908, this story was later renamed 'The Tale of Samuel Whiskers' in 1926. Inspired by Potter's own home, Hill Top Farm, it features a pair of rats who attempt to turn a kitten into pudding. This particular book (volume 16) is highly notable for being one of the larger format volumes in her series. ESTIMATED VALUE $65-$72.
Time period 1920-1940. This little book is in great vintage condition with a clean cover & sharp edges. Spine & binding are intact, though there is typical light shelf wear & age-related toning of the paper (see photos). There is a minute tear in the top, left of the dust cover that has been secured with Scotch tape. No outside writing, underlining or pen marks on any of the pages or covers.
A true classic, it’s a wonderful children's book & collectible edition for Potter fans.
