📝 Description:
A beautiful and rare 1922 first edition of The River Dragon’s Bride by Lena Leonard Fisher, published by The Abingdon Press. This volume gathers a collection of "story beads" from the author's time in South China, capturing the spiritual, cultural, and personal observations of a missionary woman immersed in early 20th-century Chinese life.
Includes black-and-white photographs throughout, many taken by the author herself. Original decorative orange cloth boards feature an elaborate stamped dragon design in red, black, and blue — a striking example of period book art. Also includes the original dust jacket, rare in any condition.
A moving historical document with strong visual appeal for collectors of missionary narratives, vintage travel writing, and Chinese history.
📦 Condition:
Book: Near Very Good. Bright, vivid cover design with only minor rubbing. Tight binding. Internally clean with mild age-toning and foxing to endpapers. No writing or markings noted.
Dust Jacket: Present and intact but shows edgewear, chips, and some foxing (see photos). Still uncommon to find with jacket.
A few small spots of foxing to some plates and tissue guards, but plates are crisp and well-preserved.
Professional packaging always, since 2003.
