"The Queen Bee" by Edna Lee is a gothic novel published in 1949. The story revolves around Eva Phillips, a manipulative and domineering woman who rules her household with an iron fist. Eva's cruel behavior impacts the lives of those around her, particularly her husband, Avery Phillips, and her sister-in-law, Jennifer. The novel explores themes of power, control, and the destructive nature of obsession. Eva's influence over the household creates a tense and toxic environment, leading to dramatic and sometimes tragic consequences. The book was later adapted into a 1955 film starring Joan Crawford.
