This is a terracotta bread baker designed for baking English loaves.  Made in England from high-quality Staffordshire Clay by Henry Watson Pottery, a company founded in 1800.  Terracotta helps maintain and regulate temperature during baking, and can be soaked before use to create a softer loaf through steam.  Cleaning is recommended by soaking in water and scrubbing, as detergents can be absorbed by the clay.
