Founded in 1984 by Jun'ichi Arai and Reiko Sudo, Nuno, which is Japanese for "functional fabric," creates innovative textiles by combining traditional aesthetics with the latest computer and synthetics technologies. A world leader in textile design, its garments, beloved for mixing traditional styles and modern sensibilities, can be seen in international exhibitions and museums worldwide. Nuno scarves and shawls are lightweight but warm and create a lofty texture with beautiful drape.
