Antique book 'The Gold Bug’ by Edgar Allan Poe. Little Leather Library books were first issued in leather in the 1920s. Due to the war effort and needing leather for helmets it was replaced with latex coated canvas with interior flocking. Originally sold mail order, advertised in popular magazines, included in Whitman candy boxes and sold at Woolworths. All these at 10 cents a copy. These are small books, about the size of a playing card. They are highly collectible, this piece being a more sought after title. Brittle covers and pages are typical. While the pages are intact, they are separated from the cover. This is very common with these books and can be left as is or glued back. Otherwise, this book is in good antique condition. 3.25”W x 4”H
