The story involves Robin Hood, a heroic fox, and his companion Little John, a bear, who live in Sherwood Forest and steal from the wealthy, particularly the greedy Prince John, to give back to the impoverished people of Nottingham while King Richard is away on a crusade. The Sheriff of Nottingham acts as the main antagonist trying to stop Robin Hood. A central element is the romance between Robin Hood and Maid Marian.
