La Canadienne makes phenomenal shoes. The leather is hearty and soft and it wears comfortably immediately. These have not been worn much, the soles have years left before they'll need attention. Toe scuffing is polishable, if desired. These are a dark, espresso brown color. With gas prices the way they are, it might be worth having some boots that are made for walking, and that's just what these'll do! I wasn't sure the category to place these as they don't fit into any of thr boot declarations. The heel on this is only an inch.

emiliewiesner Can you give the shaft diameter?

elorian @emiliewiesner hi, the shaft of the boot from where it connects to the sole to the top is 14.5" add 1-1/4" to.include the low heel. The calf width, without the stretch triangle engaged is 7.5". The stretch can add approximately an inch.

_empty_ Would you say that these are narrow, regular, or wide in the foot (not the shaft)? Thanks

elorian @_empty_ I would say regular, but the leather is soft so regular to wide would work. Not sure best how to accommodate that measurement for you. At the widest point, my feet are 4" while standing flat. My foot is touching inside, but not pressing against (the widest part of the boot is also 4"). But boots are intended to cup your foot so a wider foot would be a bit better so that the leather was actually holding the foot and not rubbing while walking. I hope this helps :)

elorian If you have a newer pair of boots you love, (not one that has been worn for years and naturally stretched to your foot) measure the widest part without a foot in it... that's likely a comparable factor. These boots have not been stretched at all, but could be easily. And, again, wider by maybe an inch (+/-) would likely be preferable, unless thick socks are in play.
