'Black and Blue' is the thirteenth studio album by the English rock band the Rolling Stones, released in April 1976, by Rolling Stones Records. This album was the first record after former guitarist Mick Taylor quit in December 1974. Ronnie Wood had previously contributed to the title track from the 'It's Only Rock 'n Roll album' and became a temporary touring member of the Stones in 1975, then an official member in 1976. 'Black and Blue' captures the band blending their traditional rock and roll style with heavy influences from reggae and funk music.
The album spent four consecutive weeks at #1 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart. Released as the only single from the album, 'Fool to Cry' peaked at #10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song 'Hot Stuff' was released as a US promo single and reached #49. The disco/funk sounds heard on the track served as a springboard of sorts for their next single, the disco-infused 'Miss You', that reached #1 in the US two years later.
'Black and Blue' was certified Platinum by the RIAA (US).
