'Electric Ladyland' is the third and final studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience, released in October 1968 by Reprise Records in the US. A double album, it was the only record from the Experience to credit Hendrix as the sole producer.
It would be the band's most commercially successful album, reaching #1 on the Billboard Top LPs chart after just one month, spending two weeks there.
'Electric Ladyland' includes a cover of Bob Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower', which became the Experience's best-selling single, reaching the Top-20 in the US. The second single, 'Crosstown Traffic' reached #52 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Although 'Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)' was not a single, it has become an enduring fan favorite and pop-culture standard.
The album has since been viewed as one of Hendrix's best works and has been featured on various "greatest albums" lists, including various editions of Rolling Stone magazines' list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time."
'Electric Ladyland' was certified Double Platinum in the US.
