'Candy-O' is the second studio album by American new wave rock band The Cars, originally released on June 2, 1979, by Elektra Records. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker, the album outperformed the band's self-titled debut, peaking at #3 on the US Billboard 200.
'Candy-O' spawned two global hit singles, 'Let's Go' reached #14 in the US and was the 100th video to be played on the first day of MTV on August 1, 1981. 'It's All I Can Do' peaked at #41. The latter, along with the deep cut 'Dangerous Type', have become an enduring standards on classic rock radio and streaming platform playlists.
The album cover was painted by artist Alberto Vargas, who was known for his paintings of pin-up girls that appeared in Esquire and Playboy magazines in the 1940s through the 1960s.
