Swirled Amber Brown Vintage Lucite Bead Necklace - 28 inches

A long 28 inches of smooth oval dark amber-colored Lucite beads, dating back to the 1950s. The beads graduate in length from about 1/2 to 1 inches. The coloring is a swirl of shades, the smaller ones a bit transparent - really looks like Amber. The long length means there is no needs for a clasp. The necklace has been securely re-strung on a strong nylon cord. Genuine Lucite is translucent, resembling glass or crystal, but can be dyed in a wide range of colors and opacity. It is hard, water-resistant, and lightweight, and Lucite can be carved and polished. Lucite is usually heavier than plastic. Lucite, an acrylic resin, was first marketed by DuPont in 1937, and it began to appear in costume jewelry around 1940. N-375
