The beads of this vintage piece are made of natural Tagua Nut, a nut that comes from a Palm Tree found in the Amazon of South America. Also known as Vegetable Ivory, this nut is used to make sustainable, lightweight, organic jewelry and artisan carvings.
This piece uses the original ivory color of the tagua nut and a natural, organic red dye to create the alternating pattern of the bracelet. On each piece you can see the center of the nut if you look closely.
Strung on a strong stretch cord and shown on my 6.75” wrist, this is a comfy conversation starter that you can feel good about owning. Likely 90’s/00’s and in excellent vintage condition with natural variations as you might expect for an organic substance. Please see all photos as they are part of the description.
I’ve included a photo of the nut in various stages of carving - so interesting!
