Offering a vintage (925) sterling silver Taxco Mexico Quetzalcoatl signed cuff clamper bracelet displaying the finest repousse work from master Taxco silversmith "ES". This bracelet has fine quality of workmanship and complexity of detail. Repousse work was done by only the most skilled of Taxco artisans. Based on the hallmark and design this piece is known to have been created between 1930 and 1940. • Design: Shown with its long tongue protruding Quetzalcoatl the "divine" beast is mirrored in the bracelet's two wings, its scaly body unfolding around the wrist against a heavily oxidized background • Artist's hallmark as seen in photo: "ES Hecho en Mexico Taxco 925 Sterling" • Measures 3 3/8" in height at the center and tapers to 1" at the back. • Hinged. Inside circumference is approximately 6 1/2". • Weighs 64 grams. Mythology: To the Aztecs, Quetzalcoatl was, as his name indicates, a feathered serpent, a flying reptile (much like a dragon), who was a boundary-maker (and transgressor) between earth and sky. He was a creator deity having contributed essentially to the creation of Mankind.
