emerybenoit Just letting you know, if you see a piece of jewelry with the number 925 on it, that means it's sterling silver. 925 means 92.5% silver by weight, since sterling isn't pure silver. 925 karat gold is not a term. Sorry, I know it can be confusing. If the metal appears gold in color but still says 925, it may be tarnished or plated with some other metal, and that plating may be gold, but there should be other small markings to indicate if it is in fact gold plated.

emerybenoit The tone of this metal suggests that it's probably plated. If it's gold plated, the most likely type would probably be 14 karat. Look at the ring reaaally closely and maybe there will be some other markings.
