Beautiful Stratton Compact in Gold w/ White Enamel & Lavender Rose from England is Vintage from the 1950s in Very Good Condition. Clean and Unused however mirror is slightly clouded. This often happened to these old compacts due to age while in storage. You can still see in mirror to apply powder or check your makeup - it is just a little cloudy in the center. This is the model with the magic patented lid design that stays closed until you open the lid past the halfway point ie: far enough back to "snap" the protective cover off the powder. This is a wonderful feature because it keeps you from spilling powder accidentally in your purse or all over yourself when you open the compact! This model has the decorative fluted edge rimmed in gold and is meant to be filled with loose powder - any brand can be used. Open compact, remove enclosed sifter, put in a small amount of loose powder, replace sifter and close the lid. Place a clean puff inside on top of the closed lid for transport. New puffs can be purchased at most cosmetic and drug stores. The sifter is a round net on a wire frame that fits inside the compact on top of the loose powder.
