Place a filter (#2 or #4) in the cone. 2. Preheat the cone and filter by wetting it with hot water, then discard the water. 3. Add 2 tablespoons (10 g) of medium-ground coffee for every 6 fl oz (180 ml) of water. 4. Slowly pour a small amount of hot water (around 200°F, or 30 seconds off the boil) over the grounds to saturate them. 5. Let the coffee "bloom" for 15–30 seconds. 6. Slowly pour the remaining water over the grounds in a circular motion.
