Star Tree Topper from re-purposed necktie

I handmade this Christmas star tree topper from a beautiful green striped necktie that I had left over from the many necktie projects I've made. I like to re-purpose neckties in numerous ways, so this is what I came up with - always fun to play & create. This 6-pointed star measures 10” H x 8.5" W, so it's a generous size. The diamond shaped necktie pieces were fussy cut so the stripes would all be the same, in order to get this dramatic look. The star has been sewn on dark green felt using a decorative applique stitch around the star. The back has a triangular sleeve, made out of the same green felt, so that it may easily be inserted on top of your tree. It is very sturdy and lays flat when upright. The last photo was my prototype using a smaller necktie pattern; so any repeating medium or large scale necktie pattern works very well.
