Created by Silverite Co. in New York What a fun and unique piece! Stangl produced these wonderful musical mugs exclusively for Frederik Lunning for only four years from 1949-1952. Both the motif and the unique shape of this red-bodied mug were designed by Kay Hackett, who is ranked amongst the top three designers in Stangl's long history. Stangl produced the mugs and Lunning installed the music boxes. This adorable Toy Soldier mug still has its original working music box, which plays "March of the Toys". This music box mug plays a tune once you pick it up, but stops when it is set down. The music box works well and the mug is in excellent condition. This mug stands 5" tall. It has a diameter around the top of 3-1/4" and a diameter around the bottom of 4-1/4'. One sold on ETSY for $164 recently.
