St. John Vintage Blue Cat Eye Gold Rope and Silver Buckle Earring

This set of vintage St John clip earrings feature gold rope detail inside of silver buckles with steel blue / grey cat eye stones. These are quality made, chunky, clipons with ear pads on the front and replaceable pads on the back of the clip. They have the St. John stamp on the clip as shown in the photos. Excellent conditon. While I could not find specific information about this pair, these earrings appear to be gold and silver plated, which is common with St John pieces. St John knits is an American high end fashion brand that was founded in 1962. They became well known for their bold fashion and high quality pieces which were originally sold in their own boutique stores, but eventually they began selling at retailers like Lord and Taylor. Retail in the 1980s was around $400.
