I recently bought a diptyque candle that I was told was authentic & it was a fake.
If you’re buying an expensive diptyque Baies candle & you want to make sure it’s authentic here are some other signs you bought a fake.
1. The fake has a purple tint to the was & the authentic is black.
2. The fake has an off center wick. If you’re paying a lot for a candle they will make sure the candles wick is perfectly in the center.
3. I couldn’t catch it on the camera but the fake has a label on the candle that you can see where the label begins. There is a slight line where you can tell the label begins. & with the authentic it’s flawless & you can’t tell the label was put on. The authentic label is flawless & looks less like a sticker.
4. The sticker on the bottom of the candle. The fake has a cheaper quality to it whereas the authentic looks more expensive.
5. The fake doesn’t look like the wax is perfectly filled all the way to the top.

So sorry you went through this! I have a black Baies candle for sale in my posh closet and I'm wondering if I still have the email receipt just as a proof of its authenticity.

@stexeira13 I bought a fake on a different platform & I just decided to share what I know on here. I think saving the purchase receipt is a good idea to give peace of mind. :)

Thank you. I bought my last few candles directly from Diptyque after being scammed a few times on this & other sites. The fakers often charge more than Diptyque which is even more disgusting

@justbreathe210 your welcome! my instincts were telling me I bought a fake bc it had a similar scent but it didn’t smell good. The smell wasn’t desirable. But it wasn’t until I purchased a real one from a department store that it confirmed all my doubts. Had I not done that I’d probably still be wracking my brain!

I recently both diptyque candles from three different sellers. I bought some of the city candles and the la
Forest reve candle…the burgundy one. Only one of the three sellers sold me a real candle.. One smelled so bad I melted it and thrashed it. It was the la forest reve one. I just reused the jar. Be careful. To be safe burn it before you leave your review/rating. PM won’t give your money back, but you can warn other buyers.

All candles were sealed like they were brand new.
