Formed in New York by South African musicians Keith Lentin, Anton Fig and Amanda Blue, Spider quickly gained attention after signing to Mike Chapman and Nicky Chinn's Dreamland label. Their 1980 debut showed strong promise, while follow-up Between the Lines featured "Better Be Good to Me," later a major hit for Tina Turner. Despite touring and solid sales, the band never broke through commercially, but their two albums remain standout melodic AOR/pop rock releases.
