Spanish Souvenir Doll Miniature Vintage 4 Inch Jointed International Dress 40s

Spanish? Possibly Hertwig. I only found one other same doll and they speculated Hertwig. Their doll has Germany on the foot, but my doll has damage. She is also dirty. I bought a collection of dolls from a woman who also bought them all together. We had a brief conversation about them with speculation on the country of origin etc. Much of what we thought was wrong. When I did my research to find out more about each doll, it turns out that all of them were made in the 40s in different European countries and they were souvenir dolls in traditional dress. History tells me that Europe was not great vacation destination in the 40s because WW2 was going on the same countries. My educated guess is that these were bought by an American soldier for a little girl back home in the United States. This is a vintage piece and signs of wear and age are to be expected.
