For countless generations prior to the arrival of the first settlers in the North Carolina mountains, Native American tribes, chiefly the Cherokee, called the Blue Ridge Mountains their home. Sovereign Oak, a historical novel set in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, narrates the tale of three historical occurrences that unfolded in the Swannanoa Valley from the late 1700s to the late 1800s.
