Small Dipped Glaze Bowl Created For Empty Bowls Initiative Signed By Artist
First a word about Empty Bowls from The American Ceramic Society: The Empty Bowl Initiative is a movement that asks local artisans, typically ceramicists, to create and donate bowls that will be used as serving pieces for a fundraising meal. After the meal, contributing guests get to keep the empty bowls, and the raised money is donated to a local food bank, soup kitchen, or shelter.
In this case, in keeping with the intention of the bowl, $10 from the sale of this bowl will go to the Parma Heights Food Pantry, Parma Heights, OH.
This coloring on this bowl was created by 1st dipping in the black gloss glaze and then, when dry, dipping in the bronze glaze. Glazes do not mix like paint does to create another color: thus, the color in the center of the bowl is the result of each glaze retaining its properties while interacting with each other.
Measurements: 5 1/2" in diameter at the rim; 2" deep; 2" in diameter at the base.
