Kevan Hall started his career as an assistant to L.A. sportswear designer Harriet Selwyn. In 1983, he founded Kevan Hall Couture, selling to luxury retailers including Neiman Marcus, Saks, Lord & Taylor and Bergdorf Goodman. In 1997, he was asked to provide the creative talent to reinvigorate Halston, a dormant label famous for dressing notables such as Jacqueline Kennedy, Lauren Bacall, and Elizabeth Taylor. Kevan was one talented dud. A little too conservative for my tastes, however. I did wear this outfit to a book signing in the early 90s when I was referred to as "the slim young author" in a newspaper review of the book. I wasn't that young (33 years old) nor that slim (had to diet six days straight to get into the thing). I felt sophisticated, but awkward, since sophistication was not within my comfort zone. So, it has only been worn once. It has hung in my closet...memories are sometimes hard to part with. I just released my 32nd book, For the Love of Guinea...looking for a new outfit for my upcoming book signing. No longer slim. No longer young.
Top (I added a new, long, Coldwater Creek tank top to wear underneath, if desired. Although it really isn't needed). The top crosses, buttoning on the right beneath the fold and on the outside of the lefthand side. Bust 36"; Hips 36" (tight); Sleeves (slightly padded) 27" (measured from collar to cuff); Length 24".
Pleated Skirt: Waist (side zipper) 28"; Hips 44"; Length 34".
Included is an enameled copper pendant.
