Upon joining the Order in 1431, Vlad II received a new name: DRACUL, meaning dragon in Romanian. His son inherited this title, leading to Vlad III being known as Son of the Dragon—or DRACULA. This silver denar was struck during Sigismund's rule, the founder of the Order of the Dragon. The Crusader cross on the reverse serves as a renowned symbol among the Order's members. Interestingly, Vlad III Dracula never minted his own coins, further fueling the myth that silver poses a threat to vampires.
