                This lithograph by Richard Florsheim is a classic representation of his work and among his best known images of the Chicago skyline at night with bright yellow and orange flames from steel mills. This lithograph is number 72 out of a very limited edition of only 100. It is in a maple frame. It measures 25 inches by 21 inches.
Richard Florsheim (1916-1979), born in Chicago, was a prominent American printmaker, painter, sculptor, educator and writer. He graduated from the University of Chicago before studying art at the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. He completed his formal art training in Paris at the Musée Nationale d’Art Moderne. Florsheim first gained international recognition in the late 1930s. 
His works are owned by the following museums: the Art Institute of Chicago; the Butler Institute of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio; Detroit Institute of Arts; Kunsthalle Hamburg, Germany; La Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, France; the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.; the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Museo d'Art Moderna, Milan, Italy; Museu de Arte Moderna, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; the Philadelphia Museum of Art; Syracuse University, New York; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England; and Yale University, New Haven Connecticut.
