This comic features the first appearance of the Secret Society of Super-Villains, a group of DC Universe villains. The original Secret Society of Super- Villains was assembled by Darkseid to combat Earth's heroes, though the villains eventually broke away to pursue their own agendas. The cover art depicts several prominent villains, including Gorilla Grodd and Captain Cold, facing off against what appears to be a robotic version of the Justice League.
