Hand-thrown stoneware serving platter from Seagrove, North Carolina—the heart of Southern pottery since the 1700s. Seagrove makers are known for durable local clay and lush ash/alkaline glazes, traditions revived by studios such as Jugtown and carried on by contemporary artisans. This oval-round platter features ear handles, a raised foot, and painterly bands of olive, amber, and deep blue pooling to a glossy center with a matte rim—classic Seagrove tableware meant to go from kitchen to table. Acquired from a private collection in North Carolina and attributed to a Seagrove studio based on the impressed potter’s seal and glazing style.
