Sea Urchin Pottery Vase Artisan Signed Kimberly Hardy Orcas Island

This remarkably detailed sea urchin vase is approximately 3 3/4 inches in diameter and 2 1/8 inches in height and is signed by the artist, Kimberly Hardy, of Orcas Island Pottery, Washington. This vase is dated 2018 and is in excellent preowned condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The artist is a fourth-generation potter at Orcas Island Pottery, the oldest pottery studio in the Pacific Northwest. After a career in biotechnology, she returned to her family's pottery business, which was started in 1945 by her great-grandparents. She creates both decorative and functional pieces using a variety of techniques, including wheel-throwing and hand-building. Her designs feature intricate details created through hand-carving and slip designs and she is known for decorating and glazing Orcas Island Pottery's signature patterns.
