Schiaparelli vintage champagne raffia brimmed Bretton hat , circa 1950s

The Parisian house of Schiaparelli, gives this midcentury millinery staple, the brimmed bretton hat, an off-kilter twist. Woven in a raffia texture w/ champaign hued cellulose straw, there’s a metallic sheen to the surface. But unlike standard Breton hats, Schiaparelli extends the brim dramatically with a honeycomb weave, a silk grosgrain band wraps around, the ends trimmed w/ tassel. Postwar, this might’ve been worn tilted over curled hair & sequined flapper dresses at cocktail soirées. Yet this archival statement piece feels surprisingly fresh half a century later, styled w/ current fashion. Size: No size tag, circumference of inside hat is approx 22.8” In very good vintage condition. Light wear & minor oxidation on the tassle and underside of hat consistent with a 1950s piece.
