Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) Chevalier aux Papillons (Horseman with Butterflies), signed and numbered 252/300 in pencil from Les Anamorphoses series (lithographs), 1972. This fine lithograph was one in a suite of five on vellum (Arches), signed in pencil Numbered 252/300 and published by Jean Schneider and printed by ateliers Matthieu. Each of these lithographs changes and takes a different perspective when viewed from the reflection of a cylindrical mirror: butterflies become a rider and conquistadors in this piece. This is a rare litho and a prime example of the surreal imagination of Dalí and his obsession with optical phenomena. PROVENANCE: This signed and numbered lithograph printed on Arches vellum was purchased by me at an estate sale, along with other pieces of rare original art. I make no claim to expertise in Dalí- I am merely an avid collector of fine art. I have researched this piece carefully, however, and I believe it to be authentic. CONDITION NOTES: There are several areas of indentations to the lithograph, shown clearly in photos, both front and back. There are no punctures to the paper and I do not think they detract from the beauty of this work. This piece is unframed and will be carefully shipped & fully insured at my expense to protect this investment. Tracking number will be provided upon shipment, signature of receipt will be required.

glasschick @stmeeks Hi there. No, it is not an original painting, but an original lithograph that is signed in pencil. Thank you for your informal visual appraisal of this work. Are you authority on Salvador Dali? What are your credentials, please? How can you be certain without physically examining this piece?

glasschick @stmeeks You are incorrect with regard to how this piece has been documented in the body of Dali lithography. “Original lithograph” is the correct terminology. This is one in a series of five lithographs printed in the 70’s. The dignified thing to do would be to create a cart for yourself and privately message me to discuss why you believe this, not troll my listing by spouting misleading statements.

glasschick Additionally, if you’re interested in reviewing similar original lithographs in this series by Salvador Dali, my recommendation would be to peruse the offerings on online fine art sites, where you will find pieces in this series being offered in the $3000 to $5000 range.

glasschick Stating that it is “not authentic” was an overreach.

glasschick @stmeeks I encourage you to do some research. The limited series of lithographs printed on Arches paper are well documented. I understand your intent when referring to a lithograph that was not made in the plate, which is why I removed the one “Original“ in the description of “original lithograph“. It is signed in pencil on the lithograph itself. The signature is an original pencil signature. Additionally, the numbering is an original written numbering and well documented in the series.

glasschick @stmeeks you used the words, “not authentic” but did not indicate that you are an expert in appraisals of Salvador Dali’s catalog of work- or that you could authenticate anything other than your opinion with any credibility. Please troll elsewhere.
