SU Sterling 8-Gemstone Bracelet 7.5"

This sparkling sterling bracelet links seven bright gemstones within its 7.5" length. The oval-cut gems are centered in double braided settings open to air and light, grounded by long striped silver links. The 4x6mm stones include garnets and amethysts (2 each), plus citrine, peridot, and blue topaz. Total weight is 14 grams. SU is the Indonesian company Suarti, established in 1990 by the multitalented Desak Nyoman Suarti, considered a founder of the Balinese jewelry business. It produces fine art designs based on Indonesian culture and contracted work for other firms, distributed by Home Shopping Network and others making them more widely accessible. Generally that means the metal is not sterling. Would SU misrepresent its materials? Would a counterfeiter use apparently quality cut gems? It seems more likely that SU applied a coating to brighten the silver for marketing and to reduce tarnishing; the metal clearly looks coated. That could have been done with rhodium, possibly applying a magnetic nickel layer underneath. (Something to be aware of if you're allergic.)
