SOPHISTICATED 1950's NAVY FELT HAT + VERY LONG FEATHER, OPEN CROWN & BOW

This is a stunningly elegant navy felt hat from the fashionable fifties! The open crown is draped into a "doughnut" shape. The open center is covered in navy netting. There is a large felt bow at one side of the front. The bow attaches an amazing very long navy feather. There are small combs attached to each side inside the hat to help keep it in position. The hat combs were very popular in the 1950's. Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. They were now touted as the essential accessory to complete the ensemble.
